Virginia
We're in a textbook cliché as we leave the last motel,
The sun sets o'er the Virginia hills and we breathe the clean pine smell,
We've blown off Mister Simon, At the Laurel Racing track.
He's waiting at the corner but I don't think we'll be back, and..
I don't know, if we can make it.
Oh oh, I don't know, if we can make it.
Just relax in to the slow lane let the trucks go rushing by,
I come back from a waking dream and the dark has filled the sky.
I ask if you are tired, but you say you can go on.
For another thousand miles till we hit the rising sun, and..
I don't know if we can make it. (x3)
We've been concreted to the flat now we've found our elevation,
Packed up all our troubles when the Amtrak left the station,
And we'll take away the good ones, let the bird out of the cage.
The Cardinal rules still apply at the last Virginia stage, and,
I don't know if we can make it (x3)
I don't know.
